Women in the News: Making a kinder, gentler man

Are men influenced by the women in their lives? According to recent research, they are. New York Times contributor Adam Grant looks at three different studies that show how men are more generous and kinder by women's influence. In one study, managers were found to grant higher pay raises after having a daughter. Although these pay increases were substantially smaller than before having children, managers were willing to dish out more after having a daughter than a son. Another study shows that men were more giving when they had sisters, and the third demonstrated that married men donated more. Interesting enough, since it demonstrates that there is a greater utility for women than just domestic servitude. Only problem is, such contribution still leaves us as a support device and not on an equal level as men.
